The first character I saw after Downton. I love Ralphie so much. He was such a confused, lonely guy always wanting to do the right thing but having no idea what that thing was. He still wore his wedding ring even though his wife had been dead 8 years and never wanted anyone to feel sorry for him. Even to the point of letting them believe his wife had left him. I just wanted to hug him & make his life right...and other stuff. ;D

I really love him as Ralph too. But watching this upsets me because I just feel so sorry for his character and frustrated for how things turn out for him

I have just edited this for a new Brendan fix disc. I only saw it once before on YT. I just love the candidness in the way he speaks. He plays Ralph so well that you couldn't help feeling sorry for him, despite everything. Tickety Boo

Finally got to see this yesterday.
I was absolutely loving his rough exterior hiding a big heart act. He was absolutely killing at the end.

I just want to hug him the whole time, especially at the end!

Oh, I did too. He clearly cared about what he was doing. I can't imagine another person giving one of those girls £200 and a train ticket.
Add to that having to hear people talking about how his wife left him and his child didn't want him.

One thing I wasn't clear about... obviously most of the stuff people thought about Ralph wasn't true and it was implied that he was having sex with that girl which explained why she was arrested but never charged, but are we meant to think that was made up too or was he actually having sex with her?

I think everything is a lie/gossip, other than his love of drink.
