I'm a nursery nurse, head of the Pre- School room so work with kids aged 3 to 4. Basically, me and the girls I work with get the kids ready for the step to 'big school.' I love it, the kids are great, it's such a rewarding job and we have lots of fun.
However, it's put me off having my own kids for the time being. ;D

I work in publishing as an editor. I work with medical subjects right now, but I eventually want to end up working in children's publishing. Yes, I want to be able to claim that I discovered the next J.K. Rowling.

I'm a literary translator. I translate books from English into my native language, Hebrew. I LOVE it. It's my passion. Very hard work but so much fun! I get to basically read books for a living!

I'm a teaching assistant, I work in a mixed Yr1/EYFS class so the children are aged 4 and 5. It's a very rewarding job and fits in with the fact that I also have two primary school age children.

I work in marketing and advertising for a community college. It's pretty cool, and I get to work in social media most of the day so it's not a problem for me to have twitter, tumblr, Facebook, etc. open all the time on my work computer. I must like it. I've been at it for more than 20 years.

You guys have such interesting careers! I'm still studying, and hopefully, if everything goes according to plan, I'll be a civil engineer by the end of 2013. I work too, part-time, only mornings - my dad is a civil engineer himself and I work at his office/do rounds around constructions to make sure everything's fine. It's a great job, kind of dirty when you see the construction part, and as a woman - and not an experienced one in the field, like me - the men in charge don't really respect me at all (it's a general consensus that it's not a woman's job), so that part isn't very nice. But I love it, most of the time.

Nowadays, happily retired. Used to drive tractors, mowing grass in city parks, mostly. So, Juliana, I'm familiar with being in dirty, non-traditional work, (and the time it takes to get/earn any respect), and littleguinea and ELV, my job was the envy of preschoolers everywhere. Nothing as much fun as letting a half-dozen well-supervised kids check out a tractor.
