Why is it that the pie crust will exonerate Bates? I get that the poison was only found in the crust but why couldn't Bates have either made or helped with the crust?

Not following the whole story that carefully, but if she made the pie crust before he visited, and told her friend she was making it ... he should be off the hook. After all, his last visit would have been weeks/months earlier.

Mrs friend of Vera ( I don't remember her name) said that before Bates arrived she saw Vera making a pie. conclusion: he couldn't have put the poison on it because he wasn't there yet. and the poison was in the crust and not in the ingredients, which means that only the person (Vera) who was making it could have put it there! so get Bates out of prison now because the man is an innocent little angel!

Anybody else think she was planning on feeding the poison pie to HIM? And then decided to kill herself when their meeting went so badly and he didn't eat anything?

I can easily imagine her feeding him poison pie. I tried a fanfic about her (didn't turn out, so unpublished). Bates described her as taking against people, and when she did, going after them, with no regard for the cost to herself. I have a hard time seeing her commit suicide just to end it, but as a way to die with him, or get him executed for murder, yup.
