I ended up watching this movie this morning because two other forum members were tweeting about it last night.
I thought that he was absolutely wonderful. It's clearly a difficult role to pull off and the end, well the end is just...wow.
It was interesting seeing him play someone so...creepy.

I love all Brendan's work. Ailsa has a special place in my heart. It is hard to explain why. It unfolds like some kind of Greek Tragedy. The whole mood is downbeat but it draws me towards its inevitable conclusion and I really can't resist it. Miles Butler is such a complex character and I would kill to know his backstory.

It definitely does have the air of Greek Tragedy.
At the very end, when he's talking about how they'll be asking her questions about his death and how she'll be the only person who knows and she doesn't even know him. I just want to know how it's possible to put so much behind so few words and just with his voice. It's absolutely amazing.

Brendan's narration IS amazing. you are so right! He never shouts or rants. He doesn"t need to with his skills. I am so glad you like this film. Some find it too depressing and I can understand that. However, for me, it is a powerful showcase for Brendan's talents and I LOVE it.

It is such a good film and as of right now, it's my favourite Brendan project.
He's able to break your heart with his narration or send shivers up your spine.

I only saw this recently and wow... Brendan's acting just stuns me every time I see him in something new. I can't imagine anyone else managing to portray this character convincingly and making him sympathetic to the audience.
And the voice... I can't even...

His voice makes me swoon all of the time, but I swear that his voice is at the best in this film.
And it is amazing how sympathetic his character is, given how stalkerish his behaviour is.

I read a bit of an article about the director a while back who said he chose Brendan for the role because of his "seductive voice". You were not wrong, sir. Also this is the movie where he met his girlfriend for many years, Emer Reynolds. She was an editor on the film & was PAID to watch hours of footage of him. He said he came to the studio to the studio to do the recording & she told him she had fallen for Miles head over heels. They joked about it & ended up falling in love for real. sssssssssigh. I hate her.

Yes, he was not wrong on the seductive voice part. We should be glad that he uses it for good and not evil... You're telling me that she got paid to watch him for hours and then met him, leading to them dating for several years? Well that's just unfair.

I think Miles had problems long before Campbell arrived. He said early on in the film that the days seemed so long and he didn't know why. He may have been unhappy, depressed even. He is not a bad person. I want to know how he come to be that way.

He's such a complex character, and it would make sense for him to have something in his past to make him depressed or obsessive. I mean, he didn't really make much attempt to speak with her, it's almost like he wanted to stalk her instead of have an actual relationship.
